Through Minneapolis to Kenya programs, business relationships and member commitments, the International Leadership Institute coordinated this formal relationship with the Minneapolis Mayor's office and Eldoret Kenya mayor's office.
This relationship has been of great benefit to the Eldoret Municipal Council. The council has been gifted with an ambulance from Its Sister City.
In January 2011,a team of professional Fire Fighter personnel traveled to Eldoret to do fire emergency training focused on the Minneapolis Fire Pumper Truck sent to Eldoret last January, 2010.
As a part of detail planning in collaboration between the International Leadership Iinstitute (ILI), City of Minneapolis Fire Department, Meet Minneapolis and Eldoret Kenya several members of the Minneapolis Fire Department along with Chief Alex Jackson lead two solid weeks of training in Eldoret. The team reviewed the city‟s fire response system and emergency medical services along with assessment of Eldoret‟s clinics, schools and hospital system.
Eldoret‟s City Council is a co-sponsor of this historical training in Kenya which could be a model for the nation of Kenya. Many hours have gone which will be a part of the continuing emergency educational program in Eldoret Kenya. Also thanks to the Minneapolis City Council and Meet Minneapolis, local hosts to Minneapolis‟ Sister Cities International. |
